A Lobengula West man aged 85 divorced and immediately sold his wife's house for $10 000 claiming he was bitter for losing all of his property to her.

Jim Moyo had the cheek to sell the house to an unsuspecting police officer, Maclean  Ndlovu.

The illegal sale came to light after Moyo's former wife Silibaziso (79) had traveled from her rural home to Bulawayo only to find Ndlovu occupying the house.

Moyo was dragged appeared before the Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo where he answered charges for violating Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

He pleaded guilty to the charges but the court suspended his sentence to August 31 this year on condition he would have paid back the police officer.

The court heard that Moyo recently divorced Silibaziso and lost their matrimonial home to her.

When asked by the magistrate why he sold the house, Moyo said it was still in his name and had the right to do anything with it.

"I sold the house because it was still in my name. I knew it was a crime but I was bitter that my wife took away almost every property that I had," said Moyo.
