22 Apr 2015 at 09:37hrs | Views
THIEVES allegedly stole crucial keys for Mpilo Hospital offices while the person in charge was buying food.
Police said thieves broke into acting clinical director, Solwani Ngwenya's car and got away with a bag containing the said keys.
The keys were swiftly replaced after Ngwenya made the report.
This happened days after the hospital's accounts offices were bugled.
"Imagine someone broke into a Mazda X7 in less than two minutes and stole the keys. With the sophistication of the locking system in the vehicle, you have to think they hired a professional. They will stop at nothing it seems," Chronicle reported.
"There must be something very important in those offices that everyone is missing. The board must ensure that whatever it is, it's removed before it gets stolen."
Last week, hospitals CEO Lawrence Mantiziba, director of operations, Duduza Regina Moyo, finance director Charles Govo and Mxolisi Sibanda - the chairperson of the central buying unit were suspended.
