Man accuses wife of prostitution

A BULAWAYO man allegedly accused his wife of prostitution and infecting him with a sexually transmitted disease before offering her R1 as transport fare to go back to her family.
This was revealed when Swisser Sibanda (33) of Spring Farm dragged her husband, Shadreck Sibanda (37), to court seeking a protection order. She told magistrate Ms Evelyn Mashavakure that although her husband was accusing her of infecting him with a sexually transmitted disease, she had no intention of divorcing him.
"Your Worship, I am not trying to divorce my husband but he told me to go back to my parents' place saying I am a prostitute. He gave me R1 saying it was for transport. I had to look for money on my own and went back," she said.
"I asked him why he did not take me to hospital to check my health condition before having sex with me. Since we were not together I am sure that I was faithful but I don't know about him. When I ask him for money he tells me that the car he is using to make a living was not bought by my father's goblins."
Sibanda is a pensioner and is making a living from hiring out his car.
When the magistrate asked her whether they had tried to go for counselling, she told the court that their church members of Guta Ramwari tried to counsel them but to no avail.
Sibanda denied the allegations and told the magistrate that his wife was the one who was accusing him of infidelity.
"Your worship, she told me that I was b******g around because I offered a lift to our female neighbour who was very sick. I took her to the hospital three times but they were buying fuel. She told me that I got an STD from that woman," he said.
"She is the one who started going to town more often and visiting the soldiers' camp. I don't know what she was doing there. If you grant this protection order I will also live in peace."
Ms Mashavakure granted the protection order, saying it would help if the two tried going back to counselling.
