Khupe grilled over Mujuru

MDC-T vice-president Thokozani Khupe was yesterday grilled by Women's Affairs, Gender and Community Development deputy minister Abigail Damasane (Zanu-PF) after criticizing the ruling party's decision to expel former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.
Khupe had argued Mujuru's expulsion had further reduced the number of female politicians in positions of authority.
The issue came up during debate on a motion to compel government to declare International Women's Day as a public holiday.
Damasane felt offended by Khupe's remarks and ordered the opposition legislator to stop delving into matters that did not relate to her party.
The MP did not do a research on the truth as to why the former Vice-President was dismissed from government, she said.
