Poll boycott divides MDC Renewal Team

Bulawayo provincial chairperson, Amen Mpofu, resigned because of disagreements over the party's decision to boycott the upcoming by-elections.

His resignation thrust the year-old party into panic and dampened its bid to claim Bulawayo province.

Meanwhile, the MDC Renewal has been thrown into turmoil after party spokesperson Jacob Mafume dismissed as invalid a decision by the party's Matebeleland North Executive to suspend its chairperson Sengezo Tshabangu.  

The suspension had been confirmed by MDC Renewal organising secretary Lameck Ndlovu but Mafume yesterday said Tshabangu remained the chairperson and described his suspension as illegal in terms of the party's constitution.
