TWO employees with the Makomwe Transport and Hardware Private Limited T/A Trumol Tiles company are in trouble after they allegedly defrauded their employer of over $6600.

Tichaona Mawada (28) who was a sales person and Terrence Tafadzwa Mudavanhu (27) who was a dispatch officer were not asked to plead to the charge of fraud when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Merilyn Mutshina.

The magistrate remanded the matter to May 28.

Prosecutor Raymond Makhaza told the court that between November 3 and December 17, 2014 the two hatched a plan to steal from the employer. They sold hardware material  valued at $14 378,24 which money they were supposed to bank in a company Standard Charted Bank account as [per company rules. The company rules require them to bank the money twice a day in the morning and afternoon.

Instead they only banked $7827 and converted $6670,41 to own use. The offence was discovered on December 17 at 7.20am.

Mawanda said he  was approached by two officials  at the shop  and stole $1455 current reciept book and cashing summary note book and the current deposit book from the shop.

He said that happened when  Tafadzwa had gone out to buy airtime.

Investigations done revealed that the two had opened the shop early so as to stage manage the robbery and $150 t6hat the previous day, the sales were so law with only clients such that money received from sales was nothing more than $320. Total cash stole was $6670,41 and nothing was recovered.

On December 17 the two then made a false report to the police saying they were robbed of the money but investigations proved that the robbery was stage managed as to be able to steal from the employer.
