A BULAWAYO man recently bashed his girlfriend all over the body before stabbing her with a broken glass for talking to strangers.
He later ordered her not to go outside the house without him.
Nkululeko Nyathi of Entumbane suburb allegedly beat up his girlfriend, Charity Sibanda, for talking to people that he does not know.
This was revealed when Sibanda appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Evelyn Mashavakure, seeking a protection order against her boyfriend
However, Nyathi did not attend the court hearing.
She told the court that Nyathi always confronts her when he sees her outside the house where she resides.
"Your worship, Nkululeko is my boyfriend but he is foiling to prove that because he does not allow me to leave my place. He wants me to be always home, he tells me that if I go outside I
will end up socialising with bad people "He is abusive and he treats me as if I am living at his own house because he tells me to remain in the house all the time.
"Whenever I invite visitors he chases them away especially if he does not know them. I have tried to talk to him nicely about stopping his bad behaviour but he gets angry at me and destroys my property. Last week, he cut me with a broken glass on my head I do not like it when he comes to abuse me and I want him to stop coming to my place of residence," she said
The magistrate asked if they wanted to go for counselling but Sibanda refused saying she did not need to be counselled
Ms Mashavakure granted the protection order, saying it would help if the two tried going for counselling.
"You were supposed to go together for counselling. However, it is unfortunate that he did not come for the court hearing. If he continues that you should report to the police," she said.
