MAGWEGWE legislator Anele Ndebele has said his constituency is now fed up with the non-implementation of ZimAsset saying the only visible signs of its progress are potholes and continued collapse of industries in Bulawayo.
Debating on the Presidential Speech on Tuesday, the MDC-T legislator said Magwegwe people have grown impatient with ZimAsset.
"I am respectful of the Government's blueprint - the ZIM ASSET, but I think its ability to jump start this economy like yesterday has been embellished in true political fashion. We have not seen much of ZIM ASSET in Magwegwe and people are asking me and I want to ask you the same question, where is ZIM ASSET Mr. Speaker Sir?
"With all due respect Mr. Speaker Sir, all we have seen of ZIM ASSET so far in Magwegwe are potholes, industries that are closing on a daily basis means jobs lost, families going without food, an increase in prostitution, and an increase in criminal activities. The people of Zimbabwe are on their knees. They are selling at every street corner. They are selling everything from second hand underwear just to make a living."
Added Ndebele : "We are getting impatient with the pace at which ZIM ASSET is being rolled out. What is the effect of all this on the ordinary man on the street, the poor like me. The poor continue to suffer. The environment is not good at all for business. Vendors have recently been threatened that the army is going to be used to take them off the streets. That increases their suffering."
The speaker of parliament Jacob Mudenda yesterday told parliamentarians that they "have received copies of Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIM ASSET) prioritised annual plan for 2015. All hon. members should collect their copies from the Papers Office,".
