Sizinda resident up for kidnapping city vendor's child

A woman from Sizinda suburbs in Bulawayo is in trouble are she allegedly kidnapping a six months old child of a city vendor.

Michelle Marole (32) was not asked to plead to kidnapping the six months old of Fungai Khanye of Njube in Bulawayo who was conducting her vending business in the city centre.

The magistrate remanded her in custody to July 3 for trial.

The court heard that on May 9 this year at 5pm Khanye was selling her wares at her flea market when she was approached by Marole who pretended that she wanted to buy something from her.

She later told Khanye that she was going to wait for a friend who has her money. She then waited close to Khanye's stall before starting to pay with her six-months-old baby.

She then slowly walked away with the child towards the OK store along Lobengula Street.

Khanye then followed her and found her walking towards TredGold buildings still with the child.

Khanye took her child and the on lookers who saw that Marole had kidnapped the child reported her to the police leading to her arrest.
