A political analyst and human rights activist Thabani Nyoni who is the former Bulawayo Agenda director has reminded President Robert Mugabe to tell the nation what happened in Matabeleland and Midlands during the 1980s.

"On this day, July 1, 2015 I wish to remind the president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe and his government of Zimbabwe of its obligation to allow Zimbabweans to know what happened to their fellow citizens in Matabeleland and Midlands between 1983 to 1987," said Nyoni.

"All Zimbabweans, deserve the truth and facts about how many women were rapped, how many pregnant women's wombs were cut open, many of our relatives disappeared, and how many defenseless citizens were buried in mass graves, how many were not buried while your Fifth Brigade sought to leave no soul alive or limbs intact in your search for "artificial dissidents"

Over 20 000 people were killed during the Gukurahundi in the 1980s in Matabeleland and Midlands as the Zanu PF government targeted the supporters of the late PF Zapu leader Joshua Nkomo.
