THE MDC-T Bulawayo deputy spokesperson Felix Mafa Sibanda has blasted the ruling Zanu-PF for failing to deliver 2.2 million jobs it promised during 2013 elections but instead opting to render thousands of vendors jobless by forcing them out of the streets.
"It is quite absurd to expect local authorities to chase after vendors when in fact we all know the cause of this predicament," Sibanda said.
"Companies closed down and in its manifesto Zanu-PF promised 2,2 million jobs. We all know that instead of creating employment the misruling party has caused the loss of jobs since its rigging into power. Local authorities because they are controlled by the opposition are being told to curse vending as a source of income yet He said vendors need to eke a living.
"Where does Chombo/Jombo expect former workers to go? Vending is like Zimdollar zeros unless you sort the melting economy crisis the infamous zeros will continue to emerge even before sun set as you will only be attacking symptoms" he said.
"The solution lies in the overhaul of the national economic cancer of corruption and looting by chefs."
He said the engagement of the international community and a return to the rule of law respect of property rights, full utilisation of farms and accountability of our mineral resources.
"The legitimacy crisis and building of national image to attract foreign investment. Without all these economic fundamentals chasing after vendors is like what Gono did removing zeros, did the economy improve?" he said.
"A BIG NO! the army should remain their barracks and police must go for corrupt and looters of our natural resources."
