Bulawayo's first commercial radio station SKYZ METRO FM plan to broadcast live Bulawayo City council events and activities.

The station could hit the airwaves by September.

One of the producers, Mehluli Majoni has engaged council to carry-out live broadcasts.

"Skyz Metro FM Radio Station wishes to engage your Office on covering and broadcasting events and activities undertaken by your different departments" wrote Majoni to council.

"We would like to work with your organization under a Radio programme named "The People's Business". After the official launch of our radio station in September 2015, this programme will be on air every week on Mondays between 2pm and 3pm.

"As the producer of this show, I will cover topical issues that pertain to service delivery in and around the City of Bulawayo. In this programme we want to go against the norm of only pin pointing problems but we also want to create a platform where we turn our challenges or setbacks into business ideas".

Majoni said if granted permission, he will focus on water and sanitation issues, health care and maternity services, installation of prepaid water meters, transport systems, finance and recreation facilities.

Also on proposal is to "cover the full Council chambers as live broadcast.

"The purpose of these live events is to enable the Bulawayo electorate appreciate its elected Councillors debate topics of concern".

In response, Town Clerk's Public Relations Office noted that there was the coming on board of many radio stations which would provide a platform for communication and interaction with the residents of Bulawayo.

There was need for the Council to embrace the new residents.

BCC recommended "That the proposal by Sky 3 Metro FM Council's to partner with Council in the  broadcasting of various activities and events be accepted in principle pending position engagement with the relevant departments on the required details".
