A TRUCK driver employed by the Buy N Build company in Bulawayo is in trouble after he allegedly stole 139 bags of cement through forging invoices purporting that a client had bought 142 cement.

Peter Suriwisu (52) of Kesington in Bulawayo was not asked to plead to fraud when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa. The magistrate remanded him to August 31 and he is out of custody on $300 bail.

The court heard that on July 18 2015 the complainant Wellcome Mabuza of Hillside who is the director of the company which is located along Plumtree Road in Bulawayo discovered a shortfall of 139 bags of cement from his closing stock.

His cashier went through her invoice and discovered that invoice number 36253 had purchased only 2 bags of cement but the accused had forged the invoice to read 142 bags of cement.

The security guard confirmed that 142 bags of cement were collected by the accused using his 34 tonne truck.

The accused altered and obliterated the quantity vat total and value on the receipt to read 142 bags valued at $152,80 using same number on the original before he returned and collected the cement and tendered his fake receipt to the security at 11am.

The accused was arrested after the fraud was discovered.
