POLICE yesterday said the six people who died in an accident involving a Toyota Ipsum and a Haulage truck in Bulawayo on Thursday are members of the same family.
National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said:
"The victims of the Bulawayo accident are Griffits Zenda, 27, a soldier, his wife Nancy Chiunze, 26, also a member of the Zimbabwe National Army, Socrates Zenda, 25, Tsitsi Nkomo, 39, Pios Nkomo, 43, and Yeukai Nyandoro, 17."
She said the six were travelling to their rural home in Inyanga for a traditional ceremony.
The accident occurred about six kilometres from the city centre along the Bulawayo-Harare Road at about 4.30AM.
The driver allegedly went through a police roadblock, hit a drum resulting in the vehicle swerving to the right. It then collided head on with a haulage truck.
All six people in the Ipsum died on the spot while the driver of the truck escaped unhurt.
