'With Mugabe at the helm, Zimbabwe is doomed'

The MDC-T Orgabnising Secretary Abednicho Bhebhe has lamented the endless economic woes rocking Zimbabwe saying with President Robert Mugabe still at the helm the country is just doomed.
Bhebhe who is the Nkayi South MP said, "Two years after claiming what he described as an overwhelming mandate in the 2013 elections, the economy has refused to cheer his rigged victory with a bounceā¦"
He said as was expected, President Mugabe's #SONA was a big yawn, uninspiring and condemned many into hopelessness as the economy grinds to a halt with no solution in sight under his government.
Bhebhe said there is no stop to this unfolding crisis as Mugabe sang the same failed ZimAsset chorus that is pushing Zimbabwe to attain a failed state status, if not already.
"Two years after claiming what he described as an overwhelming mandate in the 2013 elections, the economy has refused to cheer his rigged victory with a bounce and continues on a downward spiral with ZimAsset," Bhebhe said.
"Mugabe's SONA was the same old 34 year old tired song under his rule of "we will do that, we will do this to alleviate the suffering of Zimbabweans" yet the situation obtaining on the ground shows that the exact opposite has/is happening as poverty looms large because of mismanagement of the economy and corruption."
Bhebhe said to say Mugabe's SONA will give boost to the teetering economy is therefore taking day-dreaming to the extremes.
"This is the same Mugabe that has destroyed what was once the jewel of Africa. This is the same 91 year old bush warrior turned ruler who has been in power since 1980 and refuses to give way to new leadership with the energy and zeal to take the country forward. This is the same President who says the return of Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi skulls is the panacea to the collapsing economy," he said.
"Mugabe quickly forgot that his Zanu PF Ministers frustrated the turnaround of the state parastatals during the tenure of the inclusive government. On parastatals he said "in each case specialised audits are to be undertaken and various reforms and turnaround strategies options are to be identified."
Bhebhe said one would have expected Mugabe to apologise to the nation for frustrating the turnaround of parastatals that he has heavily militarized.
"Perhaps, that is asking for too much from a President who has refused to apologized for Gukurahundi massacres that left over 20 000 unarmed civilians dead," he said.
"During the GNU, Mugabe's Ministers and Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana frustrated MDC initiatives to turnaround parastatals. They frustrated the State Restructuring Agency Bill, State Enterprises Monitoring Bill, State Enterprises and Parastatals Advisory Council, State Enterprises Manual and the Corporate Governance Framework."
He said due to Mugabe's government incompetence, corruption and downright looting, they have failed to add value to the economy.
"With Mugabe at the helm, Zimbabwe is doomed. The MDC is the future," he said.
