A SUSPECTED thief has been in the Intensive Care Unit at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) since July, with no one claiming to know him.
The man who is thought to be in his mid 20s allegedly jumped in front of a moving car as he tried to escape a mob after allegedly stealing a cellphone from a Bulawayo resident.
The suspected thief was found with no particulars which hindered police officers and hospital officials from contacting his family.
Acting police spokesperson for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube said the man has been in the hospital's ICU since July 25.
"No one has visited ever since. He was hit by a car escaping from a mob that was baying for his blood after he allegedly stole a cellphone," Asst Insp Ncube said.
He appealed to members of the public with missing relatives to visit the hospital to identify the man.
"We also call on members of the public to always carry their identity particulars so that they can be positively identified in case of accidents," he said.
