The deadline for applying for the 2015 ONE Africa Award has been extended until midnight Monday, September 7, 2015, it has been announced.
African Press Organisation announced through email that Africa-led, Africa-driven organizations now have an additional week to submit their applications for consideration for the Award. The Award honors outstanding contributions by African based organizations leading the fight against poverty and preventable disease on the continent.
Now in its eighth year, The ONE Africa Award highlights and bolsters innovative, Africa-led and Africa-driven advocacy efforts that help advance one or more of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the world's blueprint for fighting extreme poverty and disease. This year's ONE Award is especially significant as it comes at a time when world leaders prepare to adopt the new Sustainable development Goals (SDGs) – the framework by which anti-poverty organizations and activists do more to encourage sustainable development by 2030. Previous winners include Friends Africa (2014), Agricultural Non-State Actors Forum (ANSAF) of Tanzania (2013), Positive-Generation from Cameroon (2012), GF2D from Togo (2011), SEND Ghana (2010), SIDAREC of Kenya (2009); and Devcoms of Nigeria (2008).

The organisation said individuals and organizations, based in Africa, that demonstrate innovative approaches and measurable results in helping to meet one or more of the Millennium Development Goals through advocacy are invited to apply.
It stated that applications for the ONE Africa Award will be accepted until midnight Monday, September 7th. Applications can be sent to one.award@one.org.
