Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe has reopened its Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo (JMN Nkomo) branch in Bulawayo, which has been under renovations and facelift for over six months.
Barclays JMN Nkomo Street is apparently the bank's first and oldest branch in the country established over 100 years ago.
The refurbished branch would be a prototype of all Barclays banking halls in Zimbabwe, officials said, indicating that it housed a corporate banking section on the first floor where there are now numerous offices, while personal banking remained on the ground floor.
"Basically, the Bulawayo JMN Nkomo branch really is our prototype for the future; this is what we feel is the experience that all our customers should have," said Barclays Bank Zimbabwe Managing Director George Guvamatanga.
The branch has a cash centre which allows customers to send money to anyone including non-Barclays account holders.
"We have a lot of enhancements that have happened on our internet banking platform, you can now do bill payments on several different accounts," she said.
Guvamatanga said: "Our newly renovated Joshua MN Nkomo Street Branch is designed to make our customers' lives much easier through self-help kiosks."
