A man from Mpopoma in Bulawayo nearly lost his eye after he was attacked by a relative when they engaged in a dispute over the misuse of funds contributed for the funeral of their relative.

Richard Chiwara (32) was not asked to plead to assault when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya.

The magistrate remanded him out of custody on $50 bail to September 30 for trial.

The court heard that Chiwara and the complananit Alton Ndlovu (32) of Pumula South met at Max Garage in Bulawayo to make accountability of the funeral contributions of Tapiwa Dube.

The two argued over the contributions and the records in book did not tally.

Ndlovu accused Chiwara of misusing the funeral contributions.

Chiwara became angry and Ndlovu tried to drive away but Chiwara who armed himself with a brick hit him on the forehead. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospitals.
