A BULAWAYO doctor accused of contempt of court for allegedly violating a protection order granted in favour of his former wife Has been found not guilty and discharge due to lack of evidence.
The doctor was accused of threatening to shot his former wife.
Nkonzo Ndebele (50) of Waterford in Bulawayo denied the charge of contempt of court when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Adeline Mbeure who acquitted him.
The court heard that Grace Mbetsi Ndlovu (40) of Manningdale who runs Links Exclusive Pub at Railway Avenue in Bulawayo was customarily married to Ndebele.
On January 17 2015 at 3:50 pm Ndebele who is a doctor at the Latenite Clinic in the city went to Ndlovu's work place and asked for his father's property. He allegedly told her that he will get it with or without her consent and threatened to shoot her.
The threats allegedly came at a time after the magistrate court had granted Ndlovu a protection order against Ndebele which stipulated that he must not verbally, emotionally or physically threaten her.
Ndlovu made a report to the police and Ndebele was arraigned before the court on charge of contempt of court.
In discharging him the magistrate said the state failed to prove a prima facie case against him as evidence brought in court was contradictory and unreliable.
