A SOLDIER admitted to sleeping with an alleged prostitute on credit, but denied stealing her cell phone.

Blessing Sinothi, 24, who is stationed at Llewellyn Barracks in Bulawayo, appeared before magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing two counts of unlawful entry and theft.

Sinothi allegedly stole a Toshiba laptop belonging to Blessing Mukaro of Cowdray Park suburb and a cellphone from the alleged hooker, Precious Tshuma, also of Cowdray Park suburb whom he slept with on credit.

The soldier pleaded guilty to stealing a laptop but denied stealing the alleged prostitute's cellphone when he appeared in court on Monday.

Sinothi said he did not steal from Tshuma but owed her money for sleeping with her on three different days.

"I sought for her services last week and I told her I did not have the money. She agreed to sleep with me and we agreed that I would pay her when I receive my salary. She charges $20 for 2-3 rounds and I owe her for the three days I slept with her," said Sinothi.

The soldier was remanded out of custody to November 4. Prosecuting, Margaret Muhomba told the court that on October 30 at around 5PM in Cowdray Park suburb, Sinothi entered Mukaro's room through the window, took a laptop and went away unnoticed.

"Mukaro noticed that his laptop was gone and Sinothi became a suspect as he had been the one who was last seen around his room. The matter was then reported to the police leading to his arrest," said Muhomba.

On count two, Muhomba said, Sinothi allegedly gained entry into Tshuma's house unlawfully and got away with her Huawei cell phone.
