Matabeleland South Chairman of the MDC led by Welshman Ncube, Pilate Ndebele has said lack of adequate information about weather is putting the lives of rural school children in danger of being killed by heavy rains after on their way home like it happened in Plumtree where three children reportedly died after they were caught by the rain on their way top home.
Ndebele said government must make available awareness information to the whole country so as to avoid such incidents where people loses live due to rain fall.
"If our country had enough information platforms, school authorities would have advised the children to remain at school until a time when they were sure that the rain has ended," he said. "But because we have no adequate information or rather adequate equipment to pass information to the whole country about weather these accidents are bound to be happening for a long time. I challenge government to put measures which will make the nation aware of such disasters so as to avoid loss of lives."
