Zanu PF MP Psychology Maziwisa has made sensational claims that since MDC-T President Morgan Tsvangirai started his political carrier his problem is that he adores the late Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith so much.
"Ever since his appearance on the political scene more than 15 years ago, most commentators have struggled to define Morgan Tsvangirai's true mission in Zimbabwean politics," he said.
"Some have argued that Tsvangirai has been a healthy and welcome addition to our democratic discourse, especially to the realisation of the principle of multi-party democracy."
He said others have maintained that Tsvangirai's presence has done more than just reinforce our democratic dispensation - it has brought with it a certain kind of excitement to our politics.
"It is difficult to argue against these contentions. However, on the basis of close analysis, i believe those who have advanced these arguments have looked in the wrong place," Maziwisa said.
"Tsvangirai does not represent, or even aspire to represent, any of the above. Our former Prime Minister wants to be like Ian Smith. This is strange given Smith's legacy and the contempt in which he is held by everyone in Zimbabwe."
Maziwisa said the truth is that Tsvangirai's 16-year-old career is packed with numerous examples of his adoration of Ian Smith.
"The most atrocious of these concerns his shameless campaign for the imposition of destructive economic sanctions on Zimbabwe," he said.
"Today, like many years ago when Smith was involved, millions of Zimbabweans are suffering as a direct result of Tsvangirai's lust for power and his desire to lead Zimbabwe."
"If Tsvangirai wants to be remembered with respect when, as seems likely, he finally exits the political arena in 2018, he needs to immediately stop hero-worshipping Ian Smith and to abandon his heartless opposition policies," he added.
