Zanu PF the United Kingdom Chapter has expressed displeasure over the government announcement that it will be reducing civil servants allowances in a bid to cut wage bill.
"The Civil Service Reform is all good and very welcome. But it's not good enough to reduce the allowances of student teachers whilst we continue to have unnecessary trips for top civil servants including foreign ones, ridiculous allowances for top civil servants including top of the range cars and other perks. These cuts are not going deep enough and far enough," the chapter said.
"They are cherry picking the weak. Of course not filling vacant posts is a brilliant idea for it avoids retrenchments whilst bringing in natural shrinkage but there still remains a lot of wastage in the government. When we bring in austerity measures, everyone should austere starting from the top civil servant to the lowest grade and not just the ones struggling already."
