The family of the late MDC founding Vice-President, Gibson Sibanda has said that the MDC founder never wanted to be buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare as the family had already built a burial site for its members in Filabusi, koMcondo, Matabeleland South province.
Mbuso Sibanda, the family spokesperson said this ahead of a emorial service for the late Sibanda held Sunday at his rural home that the family would not have allowed the late ex-trade unionist to be buried at the shrine.
The two MDC formations made noise last year after Sibanda was denied a hero status by Zanu-PF in light of his contributions before and after independence.
Meanwhile, the opportunist son of the late MDC VP Gibson Sibanda, Mbuso Sibanda also expressed interest in contesting Insiza North constituency seat on an MDC-T ticket, pitting himself against the popular MDC MP Siyabonga Malandu Ncube.
Sibanda declared his interest at his father's memorial service in Filabusi Mat South. Sibanda also indirectly attacked Welshman Ncube-led MDC accusing them of being "sadza politicians". Speaker of Parliament Lovemore Moyo confirmed Sibanda had shown interest in the seat
