Children need to be motivated to work hard in school especially before they are old enough to understand how valuable an education is. This is the reasoning behind Prize Giving Days and ECD graduation ceremonies. Sadly, in this economic meltdown, it is not all schools that can afford to hold even the most minimalistic award ceremony.
On the 13th of November and later, on the 26th of November, ORAP was invited to attend Prize Giving Days at Somakwilili and Gwitshi Primary Schools in Nkayi as the Guest of Honour.
"We approached ORAP because this is an organisation that has helped us greatly in the past" said Mrs Nyoni who is the Head at Somakwilili Primary. ORAP donated books, sporting regalia and soccer balls to the schools. As a result the schools were able to award their excelling students and ECD graduates satisfactorily.
ORAP strives to empower the people in grassroots communities and encouraging children in these areas to get an education is the core of our business. A learned generation increases the developmental opportunities of any community so it gives us all the reason to support activities that will harness a spirit of academic excellence in our children said Mr Mthokozisi Moyo who is the Project Coordinator at ORAP.
