A Harare man - Collins Matare allegedly 'stole' his 12 year daughter from her grandmother following a dispute over her custody.
Talent Matsika is accused by his wife for taking the child without her knowledge.
"I left the child in custody of my mother while I went for work in Gweru only to be told by mother that the child was missing.
"I later learnt that the child had been taken by Matare after making endless efforts to locate the child.
"After the child finished writing her grade seven examinations, the respondent made her to disappear from her grandmother's house without her knowledge or mine.
"The girl is 12 years old and growing into a teenager so it is in the best interests if she stays with me her biological mother."
Matare flatly denied stealing her child.
"The child came to me in the middle of the night complaining about the way her grandmother was treating her. The main reason why I took the child was that I was being denied access to see the child.
"She also told me that she no longer want to stay with her mother so the applicant is lying that I stole the child."
Magistrate Reward Kwenda ordered Matare to bring the child to court for an interview before postponing the matter to tomorrow (Thursday).
