Masvingo Resident Trust official abducted by suspected CIOs

Masvingo Resident Trust has announced that its advocacy official Ephraim Mutombeni was abducted on Wednesday mornm9ng by suspected Central Intelligence Organisation officers

"Masvingo Resident Trust (MRT), advocacy officer, Ephraim Mutombeni was earlier today (Wednesday) abducted by suspected state security agents while on his way from Mucheke suburb to the city center in Masvingo," said the trust. "Three unidentified men pounced on the unsuspecting Mutombeni near Mucheke stadium around 11 am and dragged him into a nearby Mucheke Main sewer trench and took away his laptop, tablet, Econet T.P link and US $17-00."

The trust said the attack follows threats to MRT members through anonymous calls and suspicious visit to the organization's offices .

"Mutombeni who sustained facial injuries and had his shift torn to shreds, reported the incident at Chikato Police station .The police have since launched investigation into the matter," said the trust. " Meanwhile MRT is deeply concerned about such reckless and uncouth behavior by the unruly elements we hope the culprit will be quickly brought to book."
