A former worker with Marvo stationary company has said workers  are wallowing in perpetual poverty as this is the third year running for the suffering Marvo workers, since 2012 Marvo workers have not been paid a cent despite the fact that they have been working until August this year when they were sent on unpaid leave until further notice.

"Marvo workers received letters informing them that they were going on unpaid leave until a new investor have been found after we read in the news papers that the CABS deal collapsed after CABS refused to give them another loan," said the worker.

"Since the end of September this year workers have been told not to go far because any time the Company will reopen but its now 5 months and they are still waiting some workers had gone to rural areas but were told to return to town but we have since realised that it was all fake. While others are preparing for the festive holidays and the back to school preparation for Marvo workers its a sad story altogether."

The worker said  other workers have since been removed from their lodgings, while others have with drawn their children from school because of failure to pay school fees, others are sleeping on empty stomachs and the most difficult situation faced by those who are sick and they don't have money to buy medication.

"What angers the workers the most is the arrogance being exhibited by the Judicial Manager Chrispen Mwete, Marvo former management and the current one. The Judicial Manager promised to come and address the workers and tell them the way forward he even gave them a date but on the day in question he didn't turn up and no explanation or apology was given and the workers spent the whole day waiting him as promised as if that was not enough after the workers finally called him through the workers committee he gave them yet another date and the workers because of their desperation they came, again he didn't turn up," said the former worker.

"Marvo workers are leaving misarable lives they have become destitutes dispite the fact that they worked for the company for many years. But because of selfishness and greediness of those responsible of Marvo workers have become destitudes. Marvo workers no longer plan like other Zimbabwean workers do, Marvo workers believe that what makes Marvo fails to reopen is the fact that currently Marvo factory is being used as a store room by Browns Stationery which is buying finished goods in South Africa for resale at the expance of local industry there is a lot of coruption taking place at Marvo.
