Harare man fined $30 for trying to bribe police officer

A Harare man has been fined $30 after he tried to bribe a police officer with $4 for the release of his truck which had broken windscreen.
Alfred Mutanga of Glen View 3 Harare was slapped with the fine and also risked being jailed five days if he failed to pay.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Nomsa Sabarauta charged with trying to bribe Hillary Tsiga who had stopped the driver of the lorry he was traveling in for having a damaged screen.
The incident occurred on December 21 at 8pm when they were stopped at a road block.
Mutanga disembarked from the lorry and offered the police money to buy some drinks leading to his arrest.
