DEALING in second hand tyres landed a Chikanga man in trouble with the law after he was fined for failing to account for 30 tyres that were found in his possession.

Andrew Kagurabadza (25) of House Number 1552 was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Sekai Chiundura.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $60 or spend an alternative 60 days behind bars.

Prosecuting,  Fletcher Karombe told the court that Kagurabadza was found in possession of 30 second hand tyres valued at $250 at Big Foot Store without proper documents allowing him to display and sell those second hand tyres.

Detectives from CID Mutare were on patrol in the city, checking registers of second hand goods and they approached Kagurabadza who was selling tyres. Kagurabadza failed to furnish the detectives with proper documents which allowed him to trade leading to his immediate arrest.

Kagurabadza asked for forgiveness saying he wanted to make a living.

Chiundura advised him to look for legal means to make money.

"This is a serious offence  Kagurabadza, however, you have to desist from that behaviour and find legal ways of earning a living," she said.
