A PUMULA South councilor has been accused of ordering a family of a girl who turned down his love proposal to leave the suburb.
Siboniso Khumalo of the MDC-T on Friday last week allegedly ordered Gwendolyn Mwenga (19) and her family to move out of their Pumula South home under the pretext that the house was built at a wrong spot.
However, the politician has flatly denied the accusations. Patricia Ncube, mother to Mwenga told B-Metro that Khumalo visited their home on Friday and allegedly ordered them out of their family house.
"When Khumalo came to our home last Friday he insulted me and Gwendolini telling us that we were prostitutes.
"He told us that our neighbours had approached him complaining that our house was illegally constructed and it should be demolished," she said.
It is alleged that in the process councilor Khumalo advanced towards Mwenga, as he wanted to beat her up.
"When Khumalo came to order us out of the house he was surprised when he discovered that my daughter was pregnant. He actually advanced threatening to beat her up.
"Khumalo actually asked my daughter who was responsible for the pregnancy and I was surprised to hear such a question," she said.
Ncube said the reaction of Khumalo did no go down well with Mwenga who later confided in her mother that Khumalo was angry as she had turned her down.
"Khumalo is a married man and he was trying his luck on my daughter who turned him down and right now he is using his political powers to try and throw us out of our house," she said.
After exchanging harsh words with Ncube, Khumalo is alleged to have dragged some of the family property outside the house as he claimed that the house was supposed to be demolished by the city council.
When B-Metro spoke to councilor Khumalo about the allegations he said the allegations were not true. He said they were spread by people who wanted to destroy his political career.
"These are the works of my enemies as I never attacked anyone and these people have been against me from the time I got into office as a councilor," he said.
