Sand poachers wreck havoc in Harare

Sand poachers are reportedly wrecking havoc in Harare amid concerns have been raised by the Harare Residents Trust.
The trust said sand poachers have destroyed the land at Granville Cemetery C (Kumbudzi) in the area overlooking Southlea Park and Hopley Farm.
"Pits are plenty in the area which are left open by those who poach for sand to sell to people constructing their houses," the trust said. "This is done without any consideration to the extreme damage they are causing to the environment. Residents have to be aware of their environment, and protect it for future generations who will also want to make use of the same environment."
