Man rapes sister-in-law as she looked like his wife

A 36-year-old Harare -  Archibald Hodza reportedly raped his sister in law because she resembled his wife, a court heard.

Hodza turned out to be a lucky man as his victim aged 19 withdrew the rape charges.

The victim told the court that she decided to withdraw the charges after considering that Hodza was her relative.

She also wanted to keep an amicable relationship with other relatives.

"I have noted that he is my relative and I want to keep an amicable relationship with other relatives," she told magistrate Elijah Makomo.

The court heard that in August 2015, Hodza entered his sister-in-law's bedroom and told her she was looking like his wife.

He then reportedly offered her $10 for sexual favours' but she refused.

Hodza then started fondling the girl's breast before undressing her. He then raped her and ordered her not to reveal to anyone since no one would stay with her as she is an orphan.

However, the victim told her sister who intern sent her to the rural areas.

The 19 year old also went on to reveal the abuse to her uncle who told her to make a police report.

Hodza was arrested.
