Harare City Council official Munyaradzi Gowa, from Roads department has told Mabelreign Business people at a meeting convened today by Ward Councillor for the area that the Harare City Council Works Department only has one truck to ferry tar to do road patching which is used by all suburbs.
He said so that means that any community that needs to have their roads patched have to provide transport to carry their tar.
This led to a concerned ratepayer at the meeting asking what has happened to the money they continue to pay to the council, and the District Officer responded saying: "We do not rely or ask anything from residents unless if they are willing to donate something."
The meeting was also attended by local Member of Parliament (Harare West) Honourable Jessie Majome who raised concerns over the erection of illegal bill boards by the road sides which obstruct traffic. She urged the council to fully enforce municipal by laws on advertising.
