Chronicle cartoonist suspended

The Chronicle has suspended its cartoonist Wellington Musapenda for a cartoon carried out in its edition on Thursday.
According to the Chronicle, the said carton ‘was loaded with unacceptable sexist and tribal undertones which have rightly upset a lot of people" wrote Editor, Mduduzi Mathuthu.
Mathuthu said the carton was 'sent to page designers who cleared it for printing' instead of being sent to editors for approval".
However, the suspension has angered Chronicle editorial staff saying Masapenda has been sacrificed.
"Masapenda has been sacrificed. Does it mean that Mathuthu and his assistants' don't check the paper before going to print? That is shocking. The editors must fall not Musapenda," said an insider.
