Sizinda widows have told the Public Policy Research Institute of Zimbabwe that they are living in fear of losing their houses as they are facing challenges of changing the ownership of the properties to their names.
PRIZ has indicated that the widows told its director Samukele Hadebe that most of them in the area were now leaving in fear of losing their houses because these houses were registered at the Deeds office and at Bulawayo City Council in the names of their late husbands.
"They said on trying to change the names into the widow's they are being charged an average of US$2 000 which they do not have. What has complicated issues for them is that the Ministry of Justice has also been saying that such houses will be confiscated by the State if their ownership structure is not rectified," said PRIZ.
