Harare Residents appeal for more boreholes as water crisis escalates

Harare residents have appealed for the drilling of more boreholes amid revelations the water crisis was escalating in parts of the capital city.
Harare Residents Trust reported that residents are appealing for more boreholes from the Harare City Council.
"Residents also want the City Council to fix some boreholes that are no longer functioning so as to make sure that everyone can access safe water. With the tight water schedule that was released in January due to the water works that are being done at Morton Jaffrey residents need available, accessible, acceptable and quality water to prevent the on going of typhoid outbreak. The City Council should make sure their provide alternatives to supply safe water to residents," said the trust.
But a resident Patrick Mahlasera said there was treated water flowing freely on Auckland Road into the storm water drainange system .. right there at AFGRI where they sell John Deere Tractors opposite Cut Rag Processors that Tobbaco company rumoured to be relocating to SA.
"Right There near Metal Box or Moja Shops.... Feel free dear residence to come and collect clean treated water for general household purposes. or better still lets organise fresh water sports at that spot... the water has been flowing freely since December," he said.
