Harare Residents Trust has said some residents in Kuwadzana in Harare have spent close to a month with uncollected refuse.
"Harare Residents Trust has received complaints from residents in Budiriro who acknowledge that they do not know if the refuse collectors still exist in the City, Kuwadzana 5 residents are complaining that the last had their refuse collected three weeks ago," said the trust. "Residents in Dzivarasekwa acknowledge that its been a month since refuse collectors visited them to perform their duty. This is a direct breach of Chapter4 Section73 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe which states that every person has the right to an environment that is not harmful to their health and well being."
The trust said how does the City Council expect residents to fight diseases like typhoid when they are at some point contributing to the spread of typhoid.
"Residents expect the City Council to collect refuse as the City Council also expects residents to pay their bills on time," said the trust.
