High Court blocks illegal demolitions

Harare High Court Judge Justice Priscillah Chigumba has ruled that the demolition of houses in the capital city were illegal and must be stopped.
He ordered that government and local authorities have been barred from resorting self help and demolishing residents` properties without obtaining court order.
High court Judge Justice Priscilah Chigumba said The Harare City Council and Minister of Local Government ,Public woks and national Housing Saviour Kasukuwere for taking the law into their own hands for demolishing the structures in violation of the people`s right to administrative justice as enshrined under section 68 of Zimbabwe`s national constitution.
