WITCHCRAFT reportedly reared its ugly head at a plot in Woodville amid reports that one of the women at the plot was allegedly seen in other tenants' rooms during the night.
The talk of black magic conspiracy reached its fever pitch with allegations that the woman's evil spirits were giving tenants sleepless nights tormenting them.
This was heard during the initial appearance of Obvious Mthunzi (41) of Plot Number 44 Woodville Road before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa.
He was being charged with a crime of contravening section 99 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 (indicating witches).
Accusations against Mthunzi are that he courted the long arm of the law through his witch hunting practices of labelling his neighbour Atalia Mabhena a 'serial witch' whose alleged practices were tormenting him.
The State case as presented by prosecutor Mr Dumisani Moyo was that on 21 September at around 11 am Mabhena was at home washing her clothes when she saw the accused pointing a finger at her. It is reported that the accused person was talking to
one of their neighbours.
The complainant, after seeing the accused person pointing a finger at her reportedly asked him whether he was talking to her.
Mr Moyo further told the court that Mabhena's question did not go down well with Mthunzi who started to launch a ballistic attack on the complainant saying she was a witch.
As a result of the unholy accusations, the two parties spawned into a war words.
The court heard that Mthunzi in a bid to authenticate his claims stated that he was always seeing the complainant inside his room during the night.
He went on to say the complainant who would be on her witchcraft expeditions in his room would be giving him sleepless nights, tormented by her evil spirits.
Having received too much of the satirical attack the complainant went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
For the offence of accusing his neighbour of practicing black magic the accused person was not formally charged and was remanded on US$20.
