Woman found 11 days after being killed by elephant

A woman from Mkwasine village in Triangle was found dead and buried after the elephant killed her.

Masvingo Mirror reported that the body belonging to Enia Makuta (75) from Angus Mkwasine Village was found 11 days later after an elephant trampled and killed her before burying her underneath a heap of tree branches.

The incident happened near the banks of Chichindi-Turwi River.

Makuta's body was found by Cainos Machobve (48) of Mberengo 1 Village under Chief Ziki on February 4, 2016 near Hippo Valley Farm.

Police Provincial Spokesperson, Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the incident.
The incident is suspected to have occurred on January 23, 2016 at around 2pm when Makute left on a journey.

Machobve then reported the matter to Mkwasine Police station who collected the body.

Chipo Mbereko mobilised villagers to search for the missing granny and a party followed Makuta's footsteps until they arrived at the scene where they found the body covered with tree branches.

There were elephant footprint all over with some of the clothes from the travelling bag hanging from nearby trees.

Makuta was attacked when she was going to see her brother Benson Ngundu (21) in Chabata-Chegwite village
