We need six months to learn your Ndebele - activist

A SHONA civic society activist said people like him need six months to first learn the Ndebele language before addressing public forums.
Addressing delegates at the Ideas Festival in Entumbane in Bulawayo today, the Director of Heal Zimbabwe Trust Rashid Mahiya said Bulawayo Agenda must first give him six months to learn Ndebele if they expect him to speak in that language.
"When you invite us (Shonas) to Bulawayo Agenda you must first give us at least six months to learn your Ndebele.
"I will address this gathering in my mother language Shona and hope you will hear me," said the activist who went on to address a gathering of about 600 delegates , most of them old ladies in Shona.
A local pastor had to save the situation and voluntered to interpret for the activist.
