A seven year-old girl from Nkulumane high density suburb recently confessed that she practices witchcraft with her aunt, B-Metro reported.
"MY aunt is the one who sent me to bewitch you, she told me to cut a piece of your cloth and prickle some needles in your clothes."
These words were a testimony of a seven year-old girl who confessed that she practices witchcraft with her aunt.
The subject has sent tongues wagging in the high density suburb of Nkulumane as residents cannot believe that what they see in African movies happens in their midst.
The act came to light when the landlady's wrapping cloth, popularly known as 'Zambia or Ntsaro', went missing. She interrogated the girl on the issue.
"My ntsaro had gone missing for some days. This other day I started searching for it in their room to my surprise I found it cut and stuffed under some clothes.
"I could not understand therefore I took a switch and threatened to beat her up if she did not tell me the truth on what had happened to my cloth," said the landlord gogo maMpofu.
She revealed that before she even meted out instant justice on the visibly shaking girl, the child begged for forgiveness claiming that she had been sent by her aunt to cut the cloth.
"I was shocked to hear such words being uttered by a seven-year-old child. She told me that her aunt instructed her to cut the piece and then they met at the shops where she handed over the cloth.
"She said that she then forgot to throw away the other piece which I discovered in their bedroom. The girl also revealed that her aunt usually gives her some needles to prickle in her sister's clothes," said Mpofu.
After hearing the scandalous news, Mpofu had to wait for her sister and surprisingly the girl maintained her statement.
"The sister agreed that at some time she once beat her up after finding some needles in her pocket so now it made sense to her why she was keeping needles.
"I had to notify her mother who works in Botswana and the child told her the same thing," revealed Mpofu.
When the Aunt was confronted about the issue, she denied the allegations saying the child was crazy.
"The aunt denied saying the child was crazy but to our surprise she just disappeared and since that day we do not know where she is staying
"I have discussed this issue with neighbours and some family members and they are all of the opinion that umntwana kaqambi manga (the child never lies)," she said.
Mpofu said that as a Christian she believes God will protect her and she was waiting for the girl's mother to come so they could discuss the matter and if possible try to locate the aunt
