Harare Residents Trust has claimed that sources in the Harare City council there are some council committee chairpersons who are pushing to unfairly recruit panel by lobbying for recruitment of Ozias Bvute to be next town clerk of Harare.

"Close sources at Town House indicate that some identified Council Committee chairpersons are pushing to unfairly influence the recruitment panel by lobbying for the recruitment of  Ozias Bvute to become the next Town Clerk of Harare," the trust has said. "Reports indicate that the Human Resources Committee Wellington Chikombo (Glen Norah A, Business Committee Chairman Peter Moyo (Ward 13, Rugare, Lochnivar and Southerton) and Hebert Gomba are totally opposed to the shortlisting of Acting Town Clerk Josephine Ncube and have been reportedly trying to work with Human Resources Director Cainos Chimombe to discredit  Ncube, who is a favourite to land the post, having significantly improved the operations of the council since taking over from the former Town Clerk Tendai Mahachi in an acting capacity."

The HRT demands transparency in the whole process of recruiting the next Town Clerk and reject all unfair behind the scenes machinations designed to deprive the Harare City Council of the best possible Town Clerk.

"Information being made available is that Harare Mayor is relying too much on former Harare Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda in the process of selecting the next Town Clerk,"  the trust said.
