Bulawayo City Council has during the month of January, the number of traffic and street name signs replaced was 109.
Latest council minutes states that the majority of signs replaced were Danger Warning signs, Disc Zone Parking signs and Give way signs. In the previous month, 153 traffic and street signs had been replaced.
"The tender for supply of 107 Directional signs was awarded to Water print Investments (Pvt) (Ltd), and they were currently mobilising for delivering the signs," reads the minutes.
"A new list of hump requests had been compiled and was detailed in the table below. There was no specific team which was dedicated to hump erection. Teams had to switch from pothole patching and general maintenance to do this activity."
The minutes states that faced with this scenario of manpower shortage the Section could only manage to do a very limited number of hump sites per month.
"In a majority of cases section was forced to redo most of the sites due to lack of surfacing material, thus aggravating the situation," reads the minutes.
