THIRTY SEVEN-YEAR OLD man from Old Pumula, Bulawayo, dipped himself into unnecessary trouble after being found with a fake police identity card.
The 'wannabe' police man, Nevison Jongwe, was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Merylin Mutshina for contravening section 64 (1) of the Police Act Chapter 11:10, (possess a fake identity card).
It is the State's case that on 1 September this year police officers from Crime Prevention Unit in Bulawayo received an anonymous call to the effect that Jongwe was a suspected fraudster who was in possession of fake police documents.
Acting on this reliable source, the police officers went to his house where they conducted a search and found the fake police cards in his pocket.
When asked by the police how he got the fake ID, Jongwe said he picked a police ID and scanned and photocopied it before taking it to the nearest police station.
The accused was then arrested and taken to the Bulawayo Central Police Station.
When asked by the court why he was carrying a fake police ID, Jongwe left the gallery in stitches when he said he wanted to use it for show off in his rural home.
However, the court slapped him with a six month imprisonment that was wholly suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The fake photo copied ID was forfeited to the State for destruction.
