A pack of dogs fought bitterly in Emganwini suburb on Tuesday morning over a dumped baby's head.
It is suspected that the dogs picked the body of a newly born dumped baby from a dust bin.
The dogs feasted on the body and residents came across the dogs when they were fighting over the head.
Realising that is was a human head, they threw stones at the dogs and the dogs fled leaving the head behind.
The residents made a police report.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Precious Simango confined the incident.
"We received a report of a baby's head which was found in Emganwini and investigations are still underway".
Said one resident, Elliot Ndlovu, " The head of a baby was found just near the bush and dogs were fighting over it.
"Passers-by only realised that it was a human head when dogs were fighting over the head and disturbed them.
"Some women are heartless I tell you. Chances are that someone gave birth and killed the baby before throwing the body in a bin".
