The
National University of Science and Technology students who stay in
Killarney have complained against authorities for closing the gate in
their direction ordering them to use the gate along Gwanda road which
they said was too far for them.
The students said they were not satisfied by what NUST did to students who live in Killarney after it closed gates which are used by students to access the campus and ordered them students to use the gate which is near Gwanda road.
"After we had complained that the gate is too far from us, NUST security team orders us to go and stay there although we reside with our parents who live in Killarney," said one student. "One of our students questioned the security guard who was available on the faculty commerce department about why the gates were closed and the guard told him that NUST Dean of Student and administration are not interested to see students who lodge in Killarney."
The student said the guard explained that the administration and the Dean of
Student want those students to lodge at the houses in Selbourne owned by
individuals who are in administration, Obert Mpofu (the former
minister of mines) and houses who were bought recently by the First Lady
Amai Grace Mugabe.
"Our great concern is that the few students who are still renting in Killarney, so this was made to disadvantage us. We had no option to take as the security guards threaten us that the university administration department may use their means to eliminate us at the campus if we complained," said the student.
