Prospective Hillside Student duped of $250

A prospective student at the Hillside Teacher's College was duped of her $250 by a a former student who misled her into believing that he would assist her secure a place to study at the college.
This was heard by the Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya when Philani Job Moyo (37) appeared before him charged with fraud.
He was not asked to plead to the charge and was further remanded.
The court heard that on March 24 this year Nokuthula Moyo was refferred to Moyo by Busani Ndlovu his former college mate at Hillside Teachers' College. Ndlovu assured her that Moyo would facilitate her to secure a vacancy for teacher's training and gave her Moyo's number.
She called him on March 24 and they met in the city where she gave him photocopy of her educational qualifications. Moyo then demanded $250 which he said was for facilitating her securing of a place. On march 29 Nokuthula approached one Nkala and Chigariro of Public Service and Police alerting them of the scandal.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Moyo's arrest after a set up was made that she should give him counterfeit two $100 notes.
